Michele is an Executive Coach, Consultant, and Mentor who helps women, men, and youth in the areas of leadership mindset, values, goal-setting, and emotional intelligence. Born with the gift of gab, her talks provide insight, reflection, and wisdom, with a dash of humour and big serving of humility.
Hailing from the small town of Grand Bank, Newfoundland, Michele took a chance and joined the Navy after completing a Bachelor of Arts degree at Memorial University. Her 25+ years in uniform presented countless opportunities to lead, coach, and mentor. She was the third woman in the history of the Canadian Navy to be appointed to command of a seagoing ship and retired in 2021 after four command appointments. In 2017, the Women’s Executive Network named Michele as one of “Canada’s Most Powerful Women – Top 100”, and she was appointed to the Order of Military Merit in 2018.
Michele has spoken to media, interest groups, educational institutions, military/government, and youth across Canada and around the world. In addition to her bachelor’s degree, she holds Graduate Certificates in Values-Based Leadership and Executive Coaching from Royal Roads University. She continues to work with National Defence as a mentor for Naval officers and an Executive Coach for senior officers and civilians. She is a Consultant and Director on the Board of the Canadian Scientific Submersible Facility and Co-Chair of the Southern Vancouver Island Kidney Walk.

Sharla Brown is a Canadian social entrepreneur, philanthropist and humanitarian who has been passionate about entrepreneurship, leadership and social issues her entire life. In the last 10 years Sharla has received 13 business and social impact awards, including the international WEF Iconic Women in Social Enterprise Award in 2016, the 2019 Ruby Award from Soroptimist International, a nomination for the 2017 Ontario Premier’s Award, 2019 Philanthropist by the Toronto Waterfront Women’s Awards, and has been invited to meet OPRAH!
For more than 28 years, through her entrepreneurial endeavours, Sharla has supported numerous community organizations. As the president of her event management company Keynote Events, she has created and executed more than 200 events and contributed more than 2 million dollars to various community and international charities.
Sharla mentors, teaches and inspires other women to embrace their leadership potential and entrepreneurial spirit. She empowers those around her to use their gifts to create a purpose-driven life doing what they love because she believes that each person’s gifts are like pebbles they can toss into the water, creating ripples that positively impact the world around them.
In 2015, Sharla travelled to Ecuador, and a world-changing ripple effect began through her creation of One Woman and One Girl.
These global social enterprises are on a mission to help women and girls around the globe live their dreams and reach their full potential through education, skills development and entrepreneurship.
Sharla has created over 200 One Woman Fearless events in the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Her vision has ignited a ripple that has turned into an international wave of empowerment for millions of women and girls around the globe.
